Local Area Info
Lamoille, Northern Washington, and Eastern Franklin Counties are the geographic areas on which Red Door Real Estate primarily concentrates. We do frequently go outside these areas to help clients find a property, but this website contains information only on our "home" area and primarily Lamoille County.
Lamoille County is located in North Central Vermont and is one of the State's most well known tourist and recreation areas. For Winter time fun Stowe boasts of having one of the best downhill skiing, and snowboarding, mountains in the World. Smuggler's Notch ski area is a favorite of families and is located in Cambridge. There are numerous cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling trails crisscrossing the county. In warmer weather there are extensive hiking trails with the Long Trail running along the spine of the Green Mountains and many others taking you to extraordinary vistas.
Geographically, the county contains the State's highest point (The "Chin" on Mt. Mansfield). The Lamoille River bisects the county, and there are numerous lakes (Green River Reservoir, Lake Eden, Waterbury Reservoir, and Lake Elmore) within or just bordering the county. Route 100, Vermont's major North/South route runs the length of the county and Route 15 follows the Lamoille River East to West. Lamoille County is easy to get to by car via Interstate Route 89 which passes through Waterbury just to the South of the county line. The Burlington International Airport is within an hour of much of the county.
