Elmore is located in the Southeast corner of Lamoille County, midway between Stowe and Montpelier. Elmore is mostly rural with the Village of Elmore sitting on Lake Elmore being it's only concentrated population center. Lake Elmore is a major summer recreation attraction with it's spectacular setting at the base of Elmore Mountain. There is a State park on the Western shore of the lake with trails up the mountain to the fire tower on the top. From the fire tower you can see a large portion of Northern Vermont. The ski trails on Mount Mansfield in Stowe, Sugarbush in Warren, and Smugglers Notch in Jeffersonville are all visible from the top of Elmore Mountain.
Elmore is undergoing a growth phase as people realize that it is within easy commuting distance of Montpelier, Stowe, and Burlington. A major plus for parents is that Elmore offers school choice for grades 7-12, allowing students to choose from most area public and private schools.
