Red Door Real Estate was founded in 2004 on the premise that the real estate Buyer should have as much access to representation as the Seller of property.  By representing only buyers we can remove the potential conflicts of interest which can arise when a Real Estate agent has contracted with a Seller to represent them and end up showing a buyer properties. Red Door Real Estate works primarily in the Lamoille county towns of Stowe, Morristown, Hyde Park, and Johnson as well as the Washington County town of Waterbury.  We do work throughout North Vermont if our clients are looking outside these areas.

Jerry Smith and Caroline Ballard are a husband and wife team who are familiar with the Northern Vermont region from long association.  Caroline's family owned property in Stowe Vermont starting in the early 1970's and has been skiing on Mt. Mansfield for as long as anyone can remember.  After being married in 1984 Jerry and Caroline purchased a vacation home in Waterbury (just south of Stowe) and in 1995 bought  property in Hyde Park Vermont on which they completed an "off-grid" home in 1999.  Caroline and Jerry spent pretty much all their available free time over the years in Lamoille county, primarily around Stowe, Hyde Park and Morrisville.  Having worked towards a permanent move to the Stowe Vermont  area for many years it finally happened in February of 2002 when Jerry and Caroline were able to sell their Feline Veterinary practice in New Jersey.  

Since moving to Hyde Park Caroline has become very active in helping to feed the area's less fortunate by joining the board of the Lamoille Community Food Share and acting as president a number of times .  She spends much of her free time procuring food and raising money for the organization which serves people throughout Lamoille County who can't afford food .

Jerry has been on the Hyde Park Planning Commission starting in 2004.  He has strong interests in conservation and forestry issues. He constantly studies, and reads, to keep up with the Stowe Vermont real estate market and better serve his real estate buyer clients.

Jerry and Caroline continue to make all their own electricity and have been working to preserve, and improve, a parcel of land they recently purchased in Waterville Vermont one tree at a time.
